New York Times Bestselling Author Visits Bremen

Through a partnership with Anderson's Bookshop, students at Bremen High School in Midlothian, Ill. had the opportunity to speak with New York Times Bestselling Author, Mary H.K. Choi. Students were able to ask Choi questions and listen to her as she spoke with them about learning from failure and mistakes as well as writing and her career.

She told students, "Failure is not a finite state." She also advised students to consider their own heart and mental health when choosing a career path. Specifically, she advised them not to choose a career which would "hold their hearts and minds hostage when they wake up in the morning."

While Bremen High School always has at least one or two authors visit them a year, this visit was particularly special as it was Choi's first time ever talking to a group of high schoolers. Choi's vibrant personality and ability to relate to students left both staff and students in amazement at this fact.

Choi is most known for her book, Emergency Contact. Recently, she released her newest book, Permanent Record on September 3, 2019 which he Bremen High School book club will kick off their year reading. Additionally, Bremen High School will proudly offer the book to students for check out and sell it in their library.
