💚 The BHSD 228 EXCEL program partnered with Gather & Moss, a local small business specializing in houseplants and botanical finds. EXCEL students designed and created stationery cards that were proudly displayed and sold last weekend at the Words and Music 3.0 Fest in Thornton, Illinois.

Their next collaboration project will be hand-painted and glazed flower pots that will be for sale soon!

Gather & Moss is owned by Kristine McManus, a veteran 228 English/Language Arts teacher, who generously donated all proceeds from these sales back to support the EXCEL program.

Thank you EXCEL teacher Mrs. Wnenk and Mrs. McManus for such a unique collaboration! 💚

👑🎓Seniors started their day a little extra yesterday 👑🎓
Before the bell even rang, they were busy making crowns, laughing, and kicking off the morning together. Just one more moment showing the spirit, creativity, and leadership from the Class of 2026. We love seeing seniors show up early and make memories.

Yesterday, 30 students who earned their Braves Bash badges for great attendance, passing all classes, and no disciplinary infractions were treated to hot chocolate, marshmallows, and cookies. All they had to do was show their badge to a dean! Way to go Braves! #BremenBraves @bremencounselors

Our EL Language Lab B and Developing Language B students teamed up for a special Thanksgiving project—and they shined!
Students explored Thanksgiving history, built vocabulary together, and practiced sharing their ideas in English. The unit wrapped up with a student-led Thanksgiving celebration featuring student-made games, scripts, pumpkin pie & hot chocolate. They ended with a photo reflection created in Canva (attached).
We’re so proud of their hard work, teamwork, and creativity!
